A trial is underway in Greene County for Tommy Morris, Jr. for causing a deadly crash in Springfield after a pursuit back in April 2018.
Morris was believed to be high on drugs and had meth on him.
He was trying to get away from Springfield Police, who tried to stop him on the parking lot of the Price Cutter supermarket at Chestnut and West Bypass.
But Morris led police on a chase.
Police stopped following him, but Morris kept going and ran into a car driven by Dana Sowards at Scenic and Mt. Vernon in Springfield.
Sowards, 31, was the mother of two young children, ages 5 and 8.
