One man is dead after police say he attempted to break into a Springfield home on Friday.
Police responded to 2400 block of North Fremont by 11 p.m. Friday night.
There they met a man with a non-life-threatening wound to his foot outside, who said he shot an intruder into his own home.
Police have identified the deceased man as Kenneth L. Clay, 36, from Springfield. The next of kin have been notified.
