Republic police and the state fire marshal’s office are investigating a fire that broke out overnight downtown, damaging an office inside a metal shop.
It happened around 2:20 a.m. in the 100 block of east Grant near Main Street.
The fire chief says there are some “odd things that happened there.”
He believes the building is the oldest one in town. Most of the damage is to the interior of the shop.
