  • Christian County Issues Warning to “Check for COVID-19 Symptoms” After James River Church Event This Weekend

Following a major in-person event at James River Church campuses this weekend, the Christian County Health Department has told anyone present at the services to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms for 14 days.

The health department did not mention the church in its response, but mentioned a “high capacity event” at an “event venue” that had prompted numerous complaints.

Photos from the service prompted local outrage, including criticism from Greene County Health Officials.

Clay Goddard, in an interview with the Springfield News-Leader, said current numbers imply somewhere between 4%-6% of people are asymptomatic with the virus. In a group of one thousand, that is 40 to 60.

James River Church has said it is committed to doing a better job related to COVID-19 precautions, and also took measures to check temperatures at the door.
