A man charged with killing his son has appeared in court today in Polk County.
Chad Baker is charged with first-degree murder and domestic assault in the death of his child.
The 12-year-old boy was found dead outside of his grandparent’s home in Bolivar in August of 2020.
Investigators say the 12-year-old suffered serious blunt force trauma to the head.
They say they had concerns in the past for the child’s safety and Baker was charged twice with child endangerment.
Baker’s lawyers and investigators agree that Baker suffers from a neurocognitive disorder.
Chad Baker is the custody of the Missouri Department of Mental Health.
