A juvenile in Ozark has died after a pursuit in the early hours of Monday morning.

Authorities tried to pull the driver over for impaired driving and other traffic violations.

The driver then fled from police and was pursued by officers before crashing into a utility pole near Highway 14 and 32 street.

The juvenile died at the scene.

On Monday February 7, 2022, at approximately 12:28 am, Ozark Police Officers attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on a 2022 Toyota Corolla for impaired driving and multiple traffic violations.

After briefly stopping, the vehicle fled west from the area of MO Highway 14 and N. 22nd Street at a high rate of speed and a pursuit ensued.

Preliminary investigation suggests the operator lost control of the vehicle after failing to negotiate a curve on MO Highway 14 near 32nd Street, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a utility pole.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle (Juvenile) was declared deceased on the scene of the crash.

Next of kin notifications have been made to family with the assistance of the Nixa Police Department.

Ozark Police Department’s Traffic Unit responded to the scene to conduct a motor vehicle crash investigation. This is a tragic incident for all involved and the investigation is ongoing
