(KTTS News) — Springfield Police have released the name of the man who was shot during a road rage incident near Kansas and I-44.

Michael D. Miller, 39, from Walnut Grove, was suffering from gunshot wounds when police arrived.

He died at the hospital.

Police interviewed the shooter at the scene but no arrest was made.

The case has been sent to the Greene County Prosecutor to determine if charges should be filed.

One person is dead after a road rage shooting Wednesday night near Kansas and I-44 in Springfield.

Springfield Police say the suspect is in custody.

Police shut down traffic for a while last night so they could investigate.

On August 30, 2023, at 6:36 p.m., the Springfield Police Department responded to the westbound offramp from I-44 to Kansas Expressway for a reported road rage incident that resulted in someone being shot.

Officers arrived and found Michael D. Miller, 39, from Walnut Grove, suffering from gunshot wounds. Miller was transported to a local hospital where he later died. Miller’s family has been notified.

The shooter was identified and remained on scene until officers arrived. Springfield Police Department Homicide Detectives interviewed him; however, no arrest has been made at this time. When the investigation is complete, the case will be forwarded to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office for review and a determination on filing criminal charges.
