(Springfield’s News Talk 104.1) – A Olean man was caught with fentanyl in his vehicle during a traffic stop last week.

Documents show that Dalton Bailey was charged with first-degree drug trafficking.

A deputy with the Miller County Sheriff’s Office stopped Bailey on US-54 on Monday, February 12.

Bailey was driving too close to the deputy’s vehicle, failed to maintain a single lane and was going five miles over the speed limit.

The law enforcement officer requested to search his vehicle and person, which Bailey accepted.

During the search, the deputy found a bottle with 26 blue pills that appeared to contain 2.8 grams of fentanyl on Bailey’s person.

The deputy arrested Bailey shortly afterwards.

The deputy also found ten capsules in Bailey’s truck, nine of which contained a white, powdery substance. The 2.3 grams of capsules with white powder were later tested positive for fentanyl.

In total, the law enforcement officer seized over five grams of fentanyl from Bailey, well over the statutory amount of 20 milligrams.

Dalton Bailey admitted in an interview with the deputy to selling 10 fentanyl capsules to a woman earlier that day.

Bailey was issued a warrant for his arrest on February 20 with a bond set at $100,000.
