City of Lebanon Appoints New Chief of Police

(Springfield’s News Talk 104.1) – Mayor Jared Carr and the Lebanon City Council have announced Jerry Harrison as the new Chief of Police for the City of Lebanon.

This appointment follows the retirement of Chief Bryan Arnold last fall.

The City Council confirmed Mayor Carr’s nomination at Monday’s council meeting.

According to the press release, Harrison has worked 26 years in law enforcement, including seven as the Chief of Police for the Independence Police Department in Kansas.

Harrison holds a bachelor’s in criminal justice administration from Missouri Southern State University and a master’s in criminology and criminal justice from Missouri State University.

Harrison has served on the Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police Board of Directors, held several leadership positions including President, and has been a vital part of the Kansas 911 Coordinating Council.

Mayor Carr expressed his confidence in Harrison’s capabilities, stating, “Jerry’s extensive experience and proven track record in fostering community relationships and leading change make him the ideal candidate for this role. I am confident that under his leadership, the Lebanon Police Department will continue to strengthen its bond with the community and enhance public safety for all residents.”

Harrison shared his enthusiasm for the new position, saying, “I am thrilled to return to Missouri and serve the Lebanon community. I am committed to placing our team members and community first, enhancing our department’s transparency, and strengthening our already robust community relations. I look forward to contributing to Lebanon’s safety and well-being.”

Chief Harrison is eager to embrace the challenges of his new role and is committed to making a positive impact on the Lebanon community. His goals include maintaining a strong relationship with the community, operating transparently, and prioritizing the well-being of city residents.

Harrison said he expects to be officially in Lebanon by mid-April.
